May 2012 Charity: Literacy Drive
Books are always welcome at local hospitals, libraries, schools, and such.
Donating them for use helps everyone out in the long run. Reading aloud to
children who are learning to read, or to those who are vision-impaired, can be deeply meaningful both to them and to you.
*Important Dates*
Drive starts: May 1, 2012
Drive ends: May 31, 2012
**Prestige is due to Myself and to the Coords List by June 1**
Prestige announced by RC on June 15
*Prestige Guidelines*
1R for 1 children's book (Golden Books, Seuss, etc)
1R for 1 paperback book
2R for 1 hardcover book
5R per hour volunteered reading to children, vision-impaired, etc
*Information for Coordinators*
Local coordinators will begin collecting books from members on May 1,
2012 until May 31, 2012. These books will then be donated to a school,
library, hospital, or other place where they would be appreciated.
Volunteers must provide proof of their volunteering to their coordinators.
Each coordinator will be required to keep a list detailing how many items
each member donates and where the donations went, and to keep volunteer
documentation.
The maximum amount of Regional prestige this charity drive allows is 30R.
Coordinators! Your prestige recommendations must be received no later than
11:59 CST on June 1, 2012.
Send your prestige recommendations to:
us-se-coords@lists.mindseyesociety.org - Nifty SE coordinators' list
whitewynd@yahoo.com - Deb the RC
Use the subject line: Regional Charity Drive, 2012 2nd Qtr Part 2 - Literacy Drive
Only CCs and DCs can send in these prestige recommendations. Awards for late recommendations are made at the sole discretion of the RC, so please send your recommendations on time! Also, include the recommendations in your regular report to us-se-reports@lists.mindseyesociety.org - another nifty SE coordinators' list.
List items on your report in the following format:
first name last name membership qty type - size
One line per member per category of donation.
EXAMPLES:
Deb Pelletier Clark US2002022584 5 children's books
Deb Pelletier Clark US2002022584 3 paperback books
Deb Pelletier Clark US2002022584 4 hardcover books
Deb Pelletier Clark US2002022584 2 hours volunteered
Prestige will be awarded by regional. Just list the amounts donated, and
Regional staff will calculate the prestige for you.
*Ending Remarks*
If you have any questions, please let me know!
I think many gamers and roleplayers have a deep appreciation for books, not just for gaming books but also for books of any genre that inspire us to really think, dream, and create. Maybe a book you donate can inspire others to dream and create as well.
And though it's been a number of years for some of us, I imagine that at
some point in our lives, we really, *really* enjoyed storytime
